A reminder that when it comes to stupid bigotry, it’s difficult for anyone to beat conservative white men. Meet Professor Nigel Piercy of Swansea University.
Professor Piercy, whose time at Swansea has been marked by a series of conflicts with staff and students, had written that among those “claiming the right to censor and veto†academics’ pronouncements were “unpleasant and grubby little people, who purport to represent others because they have persuaded a tiny number of people to elect them to office in trades unions and the likeâ€.
Such “creepy little people†were “usually distinguished only by their sad haircuts, grubby, chewed fingernails and failed careersâ€, he wrote. Another characteristic was “straggly beardsâ€, “half-way between designer stubble and a real beard†and “probably indicative of a hormone deficiencyâ€.
When the university’s pro-chancellor has to apologise for the bollocks he’s been spounting, you wonder if he should move to Goldsmiths College in London. I’m sure he and Bahar Mustafa would get on really, really well….
Given the things I’ve seen, it’s hard for me to get exercised about this guy, I mean, not even a decent death-threat, he’s well down the pecking order of nasty. I’m quite surprised that he’s critical of people’s hair though, his own doesn’t look that flash in this picture of him.
This guy has managed to lose most of his department since his appointment. It’s not deadwood, this is the best people walking away to rival institutions.

Yeah, but again, I find it tough to get exercised about that. When you’ve seen Vox Day and Requires Hate, this kind of thing just doesn’t cut it anymore. I mean, he shouldn’t write that stuff, but I see the interwebs full of lefty types to characterize anyone who disagrees with them as ‘racists’ and ‘misogynists’. Everyone does debate by insult and threat now, it’s the level we’ve sunk to. I’m sure there’s white men, or black women, or little blue creatures from alpha centuri, out there behaving worse than this guy. It’s the new normal.
