I do believe in a Creator God. I believe He wrote various Physical Laws, and I believe that our understanding of those laws is incomplete. Included in those laws are bits about what happens as the atmosphere changes. Various natural things like storms have more energy in them and do more damage when they affect land. Weather patterns change and more water gets evaporated and then dropped elsewhere.

I do not claim the floods are any form of Divine Judgement, but it could be that they are self-inflicted injuries caused by our abuse of the planet. Quite who has done what wrong is way too complicated to unravel now. Is the person who put the last straw on the camel’s back more guilty than the person who put the bale on?

It’s just not useful to argue about who did what.
What is useful is working out who is going to do what about it.
Can the Somerset Levels be fixed?
London is sinking. We have a few decades before the existing defences will fail, but when they do what will our children have?
I believe all of us are but stewards of this planet.
Eventually I will be called to answer for what I have done, and if God dislikes the way other folk live their lives and express love then He is quite capable of getting involved at the personal level with them. If He does, or does not, do this it is no business of mine. He simply does not need to flood the houses of uninvolved third parties to make that sort of point. Permitting us to cause floods is an entirely different thing.

No discussion of whether or not eating prawns is sinful (They were delicious, by the way, with spring onions and hoi-sin & garlic sauce). Irony and satire are clearly wasted on some people.

I’m going to have a king prawn stir-fry for dinner tonight. According to Leviticus, which some people seem to elevate above The Gospels, eating prawns is as sinful as gay sex. So clearly I’m going straight to Hell.
