A few of the photos I took over the weekend at HRH Prog. Continue reading →

The consequence of having a photo pass for a three-day rock festival is you end up taking an awful lot of photos; indeed I took over 900 on the Saturday. I’ve used a few to illustrate my review, and here are a few more, all from Saturday. Here’s Dim Koskinas of September Code, the opening band of the day.

Crimson Sky (Jane Setter above, Martin Leamon left and Moray McDonald below) were also on relatively early on the Saturday.

They’re a band I’ve photographed a fair few times in smaller club venues, and it’s great to see them on a big stage when there’s actually some spotlight on the keyboards. Prog keyboard players are usually hidden away in the shadows.

They rose to the big occasion well.

One of the things I liked about Purson (Rosalie Cunningham above, George Hudson below) was they had a great late 60s look that perfectly matched their psychedelic rock sound. Always good to see an act where the whole band make an effort with their stage outfits rather than just the lead singer.

There isn’t much I can say about Panic Room (Jon Edwards above, Anne-Marie Helder below) that I haven’t said many times before. Except that they were the second band of the day where I finally managed to get some good shots of the keyboard player.

Arcane Roots’ Andrew Groves does an impression of Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel, only without needing the roadie to put him back on his feet.

Fish (above) was the effective headliner of the day and highlight of the weekend even though he wasn’t the last band on.

Over the course of the set members of other bands turned up to watch parts of his set from the pit. Among them was Rosalie Cunningham of Purson.

And finally, Andy Glass (above) and Emma Brown (below) of Solstice, the last band of the weekend on the Prog stage.
