Linda Odinsen leaves IOEarth

IOEarth

Birmingham’s IOEarth have announced today that ILindo Odinsen is leaving the band.

Hi Everybody,

Just a brief note to let you all know that, as of this week, IO Earth and Linda Odinsen have decided to part ways. It has been a difficult decision, but necessary in the end due to the difficulties of the band being based in the UK, and Linda living in Norway.

‘It has been a pleasure working with you Linda and we wish you all the best. Thank you for giving your wonderful voice to the New World album. You’ll always be part of the IO Earth Family’.

Linda Odinsen:

‘At the end of last year I decided to make a big change in my life, I needed to be home in Norway. Sadly the distance makes it difficult for me to continue my cooperation with IO Earth. I want to thank the fans for the love and support you’ve shown me and the band throughout the years, I can’t express how much this has meant to me. I will always look back at my time in IO Earth with pride and feel thankful to have been a part of the journey. I wish the band success in the future’.

For our fans:

Please note IO Earth tour dates will not be affected and are still going ahead as planned! Thank you for your love and support! See you on the road!

Peace, everyone at IO Earth

IOEarth have no further live appearances scheduled for 2016, though they will be playing on the Cruise to the Edge in February 2017, followed by a number of festival appearances over the summer. No word yet on who the singer for those dates will be.

Touchstone announce Christmas Dates

Moo Bass of Touchstone

Touchstone have announced two Christmas shows, at The Borderline in London on Friday December 12th, and at Bilston Robin 2 on Sunday December 14th, and have put together very interesting bills for both shows.

On Friday they will be supported by the violin-driven goth-metal of Symphony of Pain, who made a very strong impression at the Cambridge Rock Festival back in August. Sunday’s gig is a co-headliner, featuring IOEarth, who have been absent from the UK’s stages for far too long.

This years’ prog Christmas season will seem a little strange, with no Mostly Autumn Grand Opera House show due to the venue being booked up with pantomimes, and no Panic Room shows because of Gavin Griffiths’ commitments with Fish. But with Mostly Autumn, Marillion, Fish and now Touchstone all touring there’s not going to be any shorage of Christmas shows this year.

Claire Malin leaves IOEarth

IOEarth

Announcement from via IOEarth:

Due to personal and health reasons Claire Malin is no longer a vocalist for IOEarth, as she is unable to commit to IOEarth to the level the band needs. Together we came to a mutual decision that we have to part our ways so she can focus more on her personal life. IOEarth wishes Claire and her family all the best for the future. x

“I would like to thank the entire IOEarth family and all our wonderful fans for the best time ever. My time with the band is full of great memories that I will never forget…but it is time for me to focus on my health, my children and my wonderful husband Steph who has been my rock. I wish IOEarth all the best for the future and hope that they get to where they deserve to be. Love to you all, Claire x”

Sad news, although given the number of gigs Claire has had to miss of late for health reasons, it’s understandable and not entirely unexpected.

Heather Findlay, IOEarth and Panic Room in Holland

Announcment on both Heather Findlay’s website and www.mostlypink.net for an exciting gig on Saturday April 13th at De Boerderij in Zoetermeer, featuring The Heather Findlay Band, Panic Room and IOEarth. The Heather Findlay Band will be topping the bill.

I saw Mostly Autumn at Der Boerderij a week ago. It’s a fantastic venue with a great audience and great vibe. It’s a strong bill too. With the gig just announced it’s not clear whether it’s being promoted as a Heather Findlay Band gig with two supports, or whether it’s a three-way co-headliner.

It will be Heather’s first appearance on Holland since her last gigs there with Mostly Autumn way back in 2009, and while I’m not up on IOEarth’s international wanderings, I think it will be Panic Room’s first appearances in The Netherlands. It certainly sounds like a gig well worth crossing the channel for.
