As it was, all their support tactically voted for Olney anyway, and it’s easy to see why.

I think a lot of voters who “punished” the Lib Dems in 2015 for their coalition performance are coming to realise they did a lot more to moderate their Tory partners than we realised. (The Lib Dem’s actual failure was in not communicating that fact better.)
