Giving the excellent Occupying Forces by Halo Blind another spin. One of no fewer than five excellent albums from the York scene so far this year.

5 ? Who am I missing … Mostly Autumn, Cloud Atlas, Halo Blind, Morpheus Rising …. and ???
When Empires Fall, Paul Teasdale’s project.
Ah, that’s one I haven’t got yet. I have rectified that – not sure why the “buy album” link is on a page called “media”. Doesn’t seem to be the most intuitive place for it. I didn’t look there when the review appeared – just assumed it wasn’t available yet. Silly me …
Also, Smithereens and the tracks that follow it to close Occupying Forces – excellent stuff.
When Empires Fall is great. Not quite what I was expecting, since the sample track release last year isn’t typical of the rest of the album, with a guest vocalist who only sings lead on that one song. When Empires Fall and Occupying Forces have quite a bit in common with each other.
