UFO and Thin Lizzy – Are they overlooked?

Thin Lizzy and UFO are two great bands who still seem to be overlooked by rock historians. Was this because their best years coincided with the heyday of punk, so they don’t fit neatly into the default rock narrative of punk replacing everything that had gone before?

I saw a lot of stuff about Thin Lizzy a little while ago when one of the guys died.

Gary Moore was only in the band briefly and only appeared on a couple of albums. I always think of him more in terms of his solo work during the 80s and 90s (After Thin Lizzy split).

Phil Lynott, of course, died way back in 1986.

Different in Ireland for Thin Lizzy where where U2 saw them as role models. Mind that might depend on your opinion of U2
