Is McCoy actually a big Prog fan?

I thought that as well – I mean, McCoy is cool, but I’m not sure why he would be appropriate for a music festival… unless he has a connection to music that I’m not aware of…?

Suspect this is the organisers making assumptions / stereotyping Prog fans and thinking they will appreciate such guests. I would much prefer to keep guest actors at conventions and guest musicians at music festivals, not together at the same events – I suspect they would be happier, and better appreciated for their particular talents, in those environments anyway.
