A question for those of you who are here primarily for the music posts. Do you prefer the magazine-style front page, or the old-school blog page? And why?

I prefer the magazine style front page because it’s easier to see and quicker to access older articles. I’m not here as often as I’d like so I miss some otherwise.
Both are fine. Magazine format is probably best to navigate through to what you want, but we’re more used to the old Skool format.
The blog I think although I’m not sure why. I wonder if I associate the magazine style view with buzzfeed and it’s ilk and the blog style with sites with more content.
But as someone addicted to their RSS reader it’s quite irrelevant as I rarely see your front page anyway!
Just to clarify; neither is going away; I’m just thinking about which one to make the front page of the music section.
I honestly don’t mind… I mostly read via RSS so it makes no odds to me
Can never tell how many of you are reading via RSS, because you don’t show up in my stats
Both work fine, but I must admit that when I first saw your “magazine-style” page I was very impressed and wondered why a lot more blogs don’t do it. I guess it takes more work to create, though?
Took a whole weekend playing with PHP and CSS to get that to work. There are off-the-shelf themes that do somethng similar.
But now it’s set up, it maintains itself?
Does require a bit more work to post, because I’ve got to associate an image with every blog post.
I’m more used to the blog style but I do like the magazine style – it makes it easier to see new posts at a glance especially if I haven’t looked in for a day or two.
Magazine style is easier to navigate, but blog style is coffee-break friendlier. Overall perhaps Magazine style for me by 1% for convenience of finding a specific thing.
Magazine style, definitely – if only because it makes it easier to spot older music posts I’ve missed.
I prefer the old school blog layout. I do miss things on the magazine layout and only find them by navigating through chronologically. This post is a good example. I only saw it because it appeared just below the mast head.
