Gimle doesn’t like his own country, Iceland.

This little piece of nowhere foreigners love to visit and leave only has around 280 000 inhabitants. A small town pretending to be a country. You can’t do anything without everybody knowing about it. Privacy is a piece of science-fiction.

I hadn’t realised the population of Iceland was so low.

If you are a lager-drinking party-animal then you’ll love this country. It’s populated by like-minded people.

If you are a fan of geology and landscapes then you’ll love this country. It’s populated by like-minded people.

If you are both, then this place will be heaven.

Anybody else shouldn’t really come here unless they have a really good reason to come. Most of the good stuff that you’ll like is exported, these days.

Sounds like a bit of “nice place to visit but I would’t want to live here”.

Still, I have no desire to visit Iceland. It may have scenery, but there are no trains.

Catblogging seems all the rage at the moment. But probably not here; my nomadic existence the last couple of years makes getting a cat impractical.

However, this fellow, who went by the name of “Bilbo” shuffled his mortal coil due to old age more than two years ago now, at the grand old age of 14.

I’m a day late on this, but yesterday was spend recovering from New Year’s Eve, and finally getting to see that film. So here we have some of this year’s new year resolutions:

1. Have a regular posting schedule for my on-line games and keep to it, even if it’s at the expense of blogging.
2. Get back into the world of full-time employment, relocating if necessary. This one is out of my hands a bit, since it depends on a recovery of the IT industry.
3. Make up my mind whether my next model railway layout will be Swiss or British, and build it. Probably dependant on the previous one, if relocation is required.
4. Start RPGing face-to-face on a semi-regular basis. Also dependant on (2), for the same reasons.
5. Sort out all the railway photos I’ve taken of the last couple of years, including the Swiss trip, and put the best ones up on the net.
6. Not buy any more rolling stock kits until I’ve built at least some of the ones I’ve already got.

Those of us that spend all of our space cash on model railway equipment, music and games sometimes wonder what the ‘mundunes’ spend their money on.

The truth is scary. Making Light has discovered an on-line catalogue with such delights as “sea-shell toilet seats”, “cat and cow floor protectors”, and “Easter-themed doorknob pillows”. Ugh!

Teresa’s digression is illuminating:

“There’s a reality show on TLC called Trading Spaces. The idea is that two households swap homes for 48 hours. During that time, each redecorates one room of the other’s house, with the help of the show’s crew of designers and carpenters.

Patrick found the whole thing confusing. “I’ve never understood this ‘interior decorating’ stuff,” he told me, the first time he saw an episode.

“Okay. By our standards, mundanes own hardly any books.”

“Uh-huh?”

“Interior decoration is what they do with all that empty space.”

Marin IJ – Ex-CEO to serve 2 years in fraud

U.S. District Court Judge Charles Breyer sentenced William Grabske, 59, to 27 months in prison after a jury found the former Indus chief executive officer guilty of scheming to inflate his company’s revenue and profits.

Breyer also imposed a $12,500 fine and three years of supervision following Grabske’s release from prison.

Grabske was CEO when Indus laid off me and many of my UK colleagues when they closed down their UK development operation. Revenge is sweet!

This blog would like to apologise to all residents of the Essex seaside town of Walton-on-Naze, for my confusing them with their snobbish neighbours, Frinton-on-Sea, which is the previous stop on the line!

I’m off to Southend to spend Christmas with my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew, having wrapped all my safely-euclidian presents. Blogging will be non-existant for the next few days.

May I wish you all a very happy Christmas! Don’t drink too much, and eat brussels sprouts only if you actually like them!

Someone Else: The personal, vanity site could be promoted through blogger-friends.

Me: Not sure how I should respond to that one….

I think some people need some education as to what the Blogosphere’s about!
