Iä! Iä! Carnival Fhtagn

What does this mean? Has some loathsome blasphemous entity that Man Was Not Meant To Know taken up residence in the stygian gloom of the disused Woodhead tunnel? Or does it simply mean that Dodgeblogium?

Attack of the Commie Crabs

Like something out of those really cheesy horror novels by hack writer Guy N Smith, hordes of gigantic crabs are on their way to invade Europe. And Joseph Stalin is to blame! As Ken MacLoed says, those fifties B-movies got their subtexts right after all.

GURPS Atomic Horror, anyone?

Rumsfeld Fu!

Need a unarmed self defence technique to defend yourself against evil lubruls? Learn Rumsfeld fu.

Warning! Rumsfeld Fu is a specialised martial art practiced by highly trained and skilled neo-conservatives. If practiced by the untrained, it can be dangerous.

It’s also not to be confused with Rummy-Thump, which is not dissimilar to the ancient Lancastrian martial art of Eckythump, except that instead of a black pudding, you use a priceless vase looted from the Iraqi national museum.

Thanks to the Daily Mail-O-Matic, you no longer need to buy that manichean rag that supported the Nazis during the 1930s. (Link from Harry)

More on Wingnuts

I haven’t written much on this weblog over the past week, so I’ll link to a couple of recent posts from newish additions to the blogroll. First, Amadán gives us a taxonomy of wingnuts and trolls.

For example, entry #2 on “Randroids”

Objectivists, aka Randroids

Libertarians are one thing. I have some libertarian sympathies (although I think most libertarians are just self-centered greedheads who want a philosophy to justify placing themselves at the center of their own little universe). But hardcore “objectivists” and devotees of Ayn Rand are just loathsome, cultlike in their behavior (they view Rand much as Scientologists view Hubbard), and essentially advocating self-centered amorality as “enlightened self-interest.”

By the way — Robert A. Heinlein was a science fiction author!

(Oh, by the way, I’ve just added The Light of Reason to the blogroll)

Meanwhile, Harry gives us a rundown on Conservative Correctness. How many of Amadán’s wingnuts and trolls parrot lines like this?

The white, heterosexual male, is a victim of our currently “PC Society”. His freedom of speech is restricted, job opportunities are denied to him, his viewpoint is never reflected in the liberal-left dominated media and people who try to raise families and live a decent law-abiding, hard-working life are penalised in favour of all manner of deviants and minorities.

I wonder how many “angry white men” realise the reason they didn’t get that job that when to someone who just happened to be black wasn’t because of Political Correctness, or anti-white prejudice. It was because they didn’t want to give the job to a complete jerk.

Bloggers sometimes look down on livejournals. Still, I’m not quite sure what to make of this.

The Unopened Files

PolitX has a new feature called “The Unopened Files”.

Let nobody say that we can’t spot a gimmick that’s worth pinching. In a tribute to Norm Geras’ regular Friday feature, the Normblog Profile, politX proudly presents a new column entitled “The Unopened Files”.

Each week, we will endeavour to uncover unpublished content from some of our favourite opinionated pundits. Even if we have to spend hours wearing our dainty fingers to the bone in order to uncover the hidden works of genius.

This week entry purports to come from those loveable wingnuts at Samizata.net.
