Even though I don’t actually use Google Reader, as someone that’s been blogging for over a decade, it’s demise will diminish my voice outside of the walled gardens of social networks. I don’t think this is in any way a good thing.

Couldn’t agree more Tim… I’m a heavy Reader user and it’s gonna take me a while to find an alternative that fits in with everything else I do… I honestly think that GR is one of the best Google products there is.. oh well, things change I suppose…
You’re not the only one! I didn’t use Google Reader — I have my own in-browser RSS app — but a LOT of people are upset about this, in big part because they came to rely on it so unthinkingly. Such are the dangers of letting a service replace a piece of software.
